TrekSquare Privacy Policy
What information do we collect and how do we use it?
You may browse this website without identifying yourself or providing any personally identifiable information about yourself. When you interact with TrekSquare.com through your computer, however, the website’s server does record certain non-identifying site usage data, such as the number of visits to website pages.
If you elect to register and post content at TrekSquare, you will be asked to provide personal information that may include items such as your name, an email address or a photograph. With the exception of your email address, any information you share with TrekSquare is potentially publicly accessible. Please keep in mind that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online, e.g. on message boards, through email, or in chat areas, that information may be collected and used by others.
The TrekSquare website currently does not use ‘cookies’ (which are alphanumeric identifiers that are transferred to your computer through your web browser). If that changes in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect that fact.
Do we share your information?
We do not sell, rent or otherwise provide your email address under any circumstances, except as compelled by law. In all cases, however, we will only use your information as permitted by law.
The only times we may disclose personally identifiable information are if we are required to do so by law or we in good faith believe that such action is necessary to (a) comply with the law or with legal process; (b) protect and defend our rights and property; © protect against misuse or unauthorized use of the Site; or (d) protect the personal safety or property of our users or the public. If we are required by law to disclose the information that you have submitted, we first will attempt to provide you with notice (unless we are prohibited) that a request for your information has been made in order to give you an opportunity to object to the disclosure. We will attempt to provide this notice by email, assuming you have given us an email address. If you do not challenge the disclosure request, we may be legally required to turn over your information.
In addition, we will independently object to any and all requests for access to information about users of TrekSquare that we believe to be improper.
The bottom line is that we are willing and prepared to spend a long time rotting in jail before we hand over your email address to anyone. Know of any other websites that are willing to go to those lengths?
Changes to this Privacy Policy
TrekSquare may amend this Privacy Policy from time to time. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used. If we make changes in the way we use Personal Information, we will notify you by posting an announcement on our Service or sending you an email. Users are bound by any changes to the Privacy Policy when he or she uses the Service after such changes have been first posted.
